D is for Death Valley

Anne M Bray, D is for Death Valley

Not your typical entrance to Death Valley. Rugged roads between Trona and the park were traversed in 4-wheel vehicles to get to this spot. Overnight camping was also involved. Original photo taken in 1992 or 93.

  1. Going in the back way would be my preferred entrance, too. Overnight camping would be fun as well. So neat...your digital painting technique.

  2. Thanks Sue!
It was a fascinating trip. We drove by the Barker Ranch, where the Manson Family had their final hideout before being captured after their murder spree in 1969. I don't remember if I explored the ranch (I think not) but the whole area gave off a creepy vibe. More about the ranch here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barker_Ranch

    1. Barker Ranch and the Manson connection....that's a bit of history I had not heard. I would not have explored either, but it is interesting info...even if it is creepy! Thanks for the link.
