Not your typical entrance to Death Valley. Rugged roads between Trona and the park were traversed in 4-wheel vehicles to get to this spot. Overnight camping was also involved. Original photo taken in 1992 or 93.


  1. Going in the back way would be my preferred entrance, too. Overnight camping would be fun as well. So neat...your digital painting technique.

    It was a fascinating trip. We drove by the Barker Ranch, where the Manson Family had their final hideout before being captured after their murder spree in 1969. I don't remember if I explored the ranch (I think not) but the whole area gave off a creepy vibe. More about the ranch here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barker_Ranch
