I was supposed to keep a journal during my 2014 circumnavigation around the US.
This did not happen.
I didn't prep the pages in a timely manner, and all sorts of other excuses.
I am FINALLY getting it done and here is my first day's "journal", "memoir", whatever you want to call it. Not reducing the photos so you can click on them to embiggen and read the text.

Greetings from 93106: Reunion at CCS/UCSB
I did a day trip up to Santa Barbara to attend a celebration of the 50th year of College of Creative Studies, UC Santa Barbara.
Despite quitting early, my years at Creative Studies made a lasting impression on me and my art work.
I was hoping to connect with old friends and perhaps make some new ones!
I carpooled up with Lani Asher and Stanley Somers, both visual artists and classmates.
Lani was also my roommate when I lived in "downtown" Santa Barbara.

The mustard was in full force on the 101 after we got north of Ventura

Lunch break at La Super-Rica, Milpas St, Santa Barbara

Agua Fresca Sandia (Watermelon)

Our feast -- we all ordered Rajas

UCSB -- even after 40 years, sunbathers on the lawn and wetsuits drying in the trees[/caption]

Board parking
Stanley and Lani and caution signs

More danger advisement

OK, 5pm, time to reunion
Peter Nye, Robyn Raymer, Stanley, Lani
Hank Pitcher, Class of 1971 and current Head of the Art Department, "Here I am, and that's..."
I'm in this photo, front row, barefoot.
I'm so glad that I went! I had a great time!

Greetings From 90660
Can you tell where I am?
Near the Whittier Narrows area, it looks like you're in the middle of nowhere.
If there's a bad accident on the 605, I detour through here up Rosemead Blvd.
In the spring, there are active strawberry fields and a fruit stand.
$20 a flat, not cheap, but super fresh.
They had the heaters out in the fields yesterday morning, it's been chilly!
Pico Rivera!
